Hyderabad, India will be the first to host this IWBF initiative from June 22-26, 2016.
Thanks in part to the financial support of the AGITOS Foundation, the IWBF and The Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India (WBFI) the initiative will work to deliver four modules covering coaching/player development, classification, officiating and governance.
IWBF is pleased to be working with the WBFI to organize the first course. Madhavi Latha, President of WBFI has been working very hard to prepare for a successful event and we expect to see more than 150 participants over 5 days.
Thailand will be sending a team to India to play some friendly games during the course, the first international team to visit and play in India, which should make it an exciting week of wheelchair basketball for all involved.
Norbert Kucera, Chairman of the IWBF Technical Commission, Toufic Allouche, Classification Officer for the IWBF Asia Oceania zone, Maurice Hammerton, Development Officer for IWBF Europe and Maureen Orchard, Secretary General of IWBF will be there to share their experience with the participants and serve as instructors.
This is the first of programme of its kind offered by the IWBF, one we hope will be the first of many more to come. To follow the progress of the initiative please follow WBFI’s Facebook page.
