Hosts CD Amfiv Vigo battled hard against the competition to top their group, with Great Britain’s London Titans finishing second to secure the second semi-final spot. In Group B, it was Germany’s Rhine River Rhinos who topped the group to secure a semi-final game against London Titans, and Turkey’s TSK Rehab Merkezi Kulübü finishing second to go up against the hosts.
Vigo saw off a fightback from the Turkish team in the third quarter of their semi-final to take their place in the final, whilst Rhine River Rhinos’ strong start gave them enough of a cushion against London Titans for victory and a final spot.
It was the Spanish team, CD Amfiv Vigo, who after going down by nine points in the first quarter, produced a storming second and third quarter to turn the score around and take a nine point lead, 48 – 39 which they maintained to be crowned Challenge Cup champions.
