Iran women’s team will be making history at the 2017 Asia Oceania Championships as they make their debut at the Championships.
Head Coach Mehri Youssefzadeh Sani, is looking forward to it as he believes that taking part will help his players gain more experience on the international stage of wheelchair basketball and playing in international arenas.
Mehri Youssefzadeh Sani first got involved with wheelchair basketball over 15 years ago at Fayyazbakhsh hospice for the Disabled in Mashhad Province (East of Iran) and will now lead his team into their first major international competition.
In preparation for the tournament the Iran team has had several rounds of training camps, and they have selected the players via observations at these and of their performances in national level wheelchair basketball league.
Coach Mehri Youssefzadeh Sani said, “We are an aspiring team looking forward to gaining valuable experiences from this upcoming tournament.
“Women’s wheelchair basketball in Iran is a project in promising progress.”
