The women’s game in wheelchair basketball has been developing rapidly across the world.

In 2011, the first ever U25 Women’s World Championships was introduced to support the development of the women’s game and help bring on young talent.

Eight teams participated in St Catharines, Ontario and it was hailed a great success, with USA taking home Gold. Four years later in 2015, the next Championships were hosted in Beijing, China, with six teams competing.

Each of the four IWBF Zones (America, Africa, Europe and Asia Oceania) run zonal qualification tournaments, when required, to decide the countries that qualify for the Championships.

IWBF is now looking for a host country for the event in 2019. IWBF is calling for bids from interested National Organizations for Wheelchair Basketball (NOWB’s), who wish to bid for the right to host the 2019 U25 Women’s World Championships.
