Russia won the Men’s European Championships Division B in Charleroi, Belgium, today (Saturday 23rd June 2018).

After a slow start at the Championships losing both their opening matches, Russia bounced back to win their final four games and take the gold medal, defeating Austria in the final, 59-49. A consolation for Austria was that they also qualified for next year’s European Championships Division A along with Russia.

In a high scoring bronze medal game, it was Lithuania who edged it to take third place against Bosnia & Herzegovina, 81 – 74.

The other two games of the final day decided the placings of 5 – 8. Hosts Belgium overpowered Croatia, 67 – 54, to take fifth place. It was another close game between Sweden and Latvia for 7th/8th place, but it was Sweden who this time got the win between the two, by just two points 53 – 51 and finish seventh.
