Algeria will be the first-ever women’s team to represent the African zone at a Wheelchair Basketball World Championships.

Algeria won the Africa Championships last year in South Africa to qualify for the 2018 World Championships, which will take place in Hamburg, Germany between the 16th – 26th August.

Algeria’s Head Coach, Djawed Zigh has selected the same team that won the African Championships, which included two changes from the team that competed at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games – four-point player,  Hafida Belhadef, and one point player, Fatima Bouzidi, replaced Menouba Foulani and Houria Massa.

Algeria will open their World Championship campaign against hosts Germany on Thursday (16th August). They will also face tough competition in their Pool up against USA, China, Argentina and France.
