Mexico and Puerto Rico continued their winning form their journey in search of the final of the Menโs 2018 Central Americas and Caribbean Championship.
On day three of the championships, Mexico were clinical in their defeat of the Dominican Republic, 69-27, whilst Puerto Rico beat Nicaragua in a closer game, 72-65, both claiming their third victory in a row to push towards the two final places on Saturday, that will go to the first two spots in the final standings after the round robin has completed.
In addition to contesting for the gold and silver medals, the finalists of the tournament will obtain the two places available for the regions at the Parapan Am Games, that will take place in Lima, Peru, next year.
The most contested game of the day on Wednesday was the game between El Salvador and hosts Costa Rica. El Salvador came into the game looking for their first victory and caused an upset defeating Costa Rica, 47-41.
The win for El Salvador means that three teams are now in the running for the third and fourth place alongside Costa Rica and Nicaragua who all have one win and two losses.
On the penultimate day of preliminary action (Thursday 25th October), it will be a top of the table clash as Mexico take on Puerto Rico at 2pm), followed by the Dominican Republic against El Salvador at 4pm and then Costa Rica versus Nicaragua at 6pm.
