There was an electric atmosphere in the Carioca Arena for the second game of the day as host nation Brazil women took on fellow South American’s Argentina.

Boosted by a noisy home crowd the Brazilian women stormed out to a 22- 4 lead in the first quarter and the momentum continued to stay with them throughout the second. Brazil kept the defensive pressure on Argentina restricting them to just 8 points for the half to their 40 points.

In the second half Argentina got into foul trouble a number of times as they struggled to keep up with the tempo of Brazil and the home side continued to power forward. Brazilian Coach, Martoni Sampaio, rotated his bench to give all players minutes and ensure they took home a emphatic victory, 85 – 19.
