The Executive Council is responsible for IWBF’s governance. Comprising visionary leaders from across the globe, this body provides strategic direction and oversight, ensuring that IWBF fulfills its mission and vision. The Council is instrumental in setting policies, approving budgets, and guiding the overall strategic development of wheelchair basketball on an international scale.
IWBF has a number of permanent commissions, each focusing on essential areas of wheelchair basketball.
Each Permanent Commission operates on a four-year term, aligning with the term of the Executive Council. Commissions are led by a Chairperson elected at the Congress, along with additional members as defined in the Internal Regulations.
The IWBF Operations Team oversees the day-to-day management of the Federation’s activities. The Federation relies heavily on volunteers, many of whom are also part of the Operations Team, and they play a crucial role in running the sport. This team is responsible for everything from organising world-class competitions to managing player classifications and ensuring compliance with official regulations, all of which contribute to the smooth operation and success of our initiatives.
Together, the Executive Council, Operations Team, and Commissions work harmoniously to drive the growth and success of wheelchair basketball worldwide.
