The draw for the group stages of the Americas Cup 2017 took place in Cali, Colombia on Thursday 13th July.

Group A of the men’s competition will see Argentina, who won Bronze at the Parapan Am Games in 2015, take on Parapan Am Games Silver medallists Canada, as well as Venezuela, Costa Rica, and Puerto Rico.

In Group B hosts Colombia will take on Uruguay, Paralympic Gold medallists USA, plus Mexico who won Bronze in the 2013 Americas Cup. Brazil complete the group hoping to bring in the confidence and momentum from winning the South Americas Cup last year.

The top four men’s teams will secure their place in the World Championships next year, taking place in Hamburg, Germany.

The six women’s teams have also been split across two groups. Hosts Colombia will take on Argentina and current World Champions Canada in Group A, whilst Paralympic Gold medallists USA will take on Peru and Parapan Am Games 2015 Bronze medallists Brazil in Group B. The top four placed women’s teams will qualify the World Championships 2018.
