On the fourth day of the wheelchair basketball day at the II Central American Games, Managua 2018, saw wins for Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala in the men’s competition.

Opening the day, the women’s 3×3 competition took place, El Salvador held Honduras goalless defeating them 9-0. This was followed by another comfortable win for Nicaragua who took the game14-2 over the Guatemalans.

The first men’s game of the day saw El Salvador beat 52-29 to maintain the second spot in the pool. Henry Ganuza top-scored for El Salvador with 22 points. Raul Andrade’s 8 points led the scoring for Panama.

In the game between Honduras and Guatemala, a strong opening quarter from Guatemala ensured their control over the game from the start in which they won all four quarters 14 – 4, 15-8, 11-4,16-12 to win 56-28. Guatemalan’s captain Hugo Andrino led their scoring with 17 points and for Honduras Jorge Rivera top scored with 9 points.

The final game of the day was a thriller between Costa Rica and Nicaragua. In a close first quarter, the host’s Nicaragua edged ahead 14 – 8 but it was in the second quarter they really took control of the game pushing ahead 32-16. During the third quarter their advantage was increased by eight points and despite Costa Rica rallying to win the final quarter, the Nicaraguan’s sealed the win, 64-41.  The competitions’ two top scorers again proved important for both their sides as Costa Rica’s Kenneth Gonzalez top scored 20 points and Nicaragua’s Richard Hodgson with 18 points.
