Thirty international technical officials have been announced for the wheelchair basketball competition at the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games.

The Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games, a multi-sport event, will be held between the 6th – 13th October, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Eight countries will compete in the men’s wheelchair basketball competition, Korea, Japan, Iran, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Chinese Taipei and six in the women’s China, Japan, Iran, Thailand, Afghanistan and Cambodia.

Leading the team of officials will be Technical Delegate, Don Perriman (AUS), supported by assisted technical delegate, Ang Kean Koo (MAS), and Nejib Mechkane (UAE) and Matt Wells (AUS), will make up the Tournament Technical Committee.

The game crews for the tournament will be composed of fifteen referees from across ten countries. The games will be the final tournament for China’s Jun Zhang, who has announced his retirement from international refereeing, whilst Australia’s Danielle McIntyre will be making her debut on the international stage.

Stepping up to take on referee supervisor roles, and assisting Eisuke Kanno (JPN), are two international referees, Jafar Mohammad Pour (IRI) and Hsieh Shu-Fei (TPE) who recently whistled at the 2018 Wheelchair Basketball World Championships.

To also help the development of further officials in the zone both Indonesia’s Herman Ponga and Ilham Burhanudin, whilst appointed as commissioners, will also be utilised as referees during the tournament following being identified as potential zone officials at the recent clinic held at the test event.

A team of five officials will oversee the classification, led by chief classifier Toufic Allouche (LEB).
