Mexico and Chile’s women’s wheelchair basketball teams have qualified for the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games. Both teams secured their places in the games taking place next year in Lima, through the 2018 Women’s Americas Regional Qualifier.
Three teams, Mexico, Chile and Guatemala took part in the 2018 Women’s Americas Regional Qualifier with only two spots at Lima 2019 available.
All teams played each other twice to determine the pool placings. Mexico remained unbeaten throughout the competition going 5-0, and comfortably securing their ticket to Peru.
Whilst Chile caused the upset in the deciding game against Guatemala, following two close losses to the Guatemalans in the pool stages, Chile edged it in the crossover game by just one point, 32 -31, to make their way through to the final and take the last place at Lima 2019.
The women’s wheelchair basketball competition line up for the Lima 2019 games has now been confirmed and it will be made up of eight nations, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and the USA.
