Two German and two Spanish teams have made the Final Four of IWBF Europe’s Champions League 2019.

The four teams, RSV Lahn-Dill, RSB Thuringia Bulls, CD Ilunion and BSR Amiab Albacete, all fought their way through the quarter-final stage of the Champions League, held between the 8th to the 10th March 2019.

The Final Four is the third phase in the Champions League competition. Fifteen teams competed across three groups in the preliminary round, with the eight teams, including the 2018 Champions League winner and runner-up, split across two groups in the quarter-finals.

2018 Champions, RSB Thuringia Bulls (GER), hosted one quarter-final in Elxleben, Germany and confidently ensured their place in the Final Four going 3-0. It was a close call for the second spot, with all other teams finishing with one win and two losses, but it was Spain’s BSR Amiab Albacete (ESP) who edged out, UnipolSai Briantea84 Cantú (ITA) and Beşiktaş JK (TUR), with the better points difference between the three teams.

In the second group in Madrid, Spain, hosted by 2018 runners-up CD Ilunion (ESP), it was again the home team that finished top without losing a game. Germany’s RSV Lahn-Dill finished second and took the last spot in the Final Four with wins over Bidaideak Bilbao BSR (ESP) and Deco Amicacci Giulianova (ITA).

Beşiktaş JK and Bidaideak Bilbao BSR both finished third in each of the groups with the consolation prize of heading to the EuroLeague 1 Finals in Sheffield, Great Britain.

All four teams that qualified will compete for the Champions League title on the 3rd and 4th May 2019 in Wałbrzych, Poland.
