The fourteenth edition of the Easter Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, will take place this weekend (19th – 21st April 2019), at the Sport Vlaanderen Centre in Blankenberge, Belgium.
The tournament is highly regarded among the top wheelchair basketball countries, and this year, Belgium will welcome the national men’s teams from Brazil, Great Britain, Japan, the Netherlands and South Africa to compete.
All five of these countries are in full preparation for their Zonal Championships, where the qualification for Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will happen.
The Easter Tournament, is organised annually by the Rolstoelbasketball VZW, an organisation founded by three Flemish Wheelchair Basketball Clubs, with the proceeds they make from the tournament designated to help support and develop youth wheelchair basketball in Belgium.
Current World Champions, Great Britain, will match up with South Africa in the opening game of the event, at 15:00 (local time) on Friday (19th April). The format of the competition being a round robin where all teams play against each other and the team with the most points is crowned the Easter Tournament Champion.
Access is free to any spectators or if you can’t make it you can follow the games via the live stream.
