The draws for the wheelchair basketball competitions at the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games will take place on Friday 17th May 2019 at 10.30am (local time) in Lima.
The Parapan Am Games will be held between the 23rd August – 1st September 2019 in Lima, Peru and will act as the Tokyo 2020 qualification tournament for wheelchair basketball in the Americas Zone.
The Lima 2019 Parapan Am Games will host 1890 athletes from 33 countries, who will participate in 17 sports and 18 disciplines. It will be the sixth edition of the Games which began in 1999 with only four sports: wheelchair basketball, athletics, swimming and table tennis.
There are eight men’s teams and eight women’s teams taking part in the wheelchair basketball section. Both the men’s and women’s draws will be set up in the same way. The eight teams have been paired (as below) by region and will be drawn and separated across two pools of four.
In the men’s competition, the top three will qualify for a place in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, whilst in the women’s, the top two will qualify.
