The teams (listed above) all qualified through their relevant zonal Championships, apart from the United Arab Emirates who have automatically received a host spot in the men’s tournament, and China and Thailand in the women’s tournament who have replaced their respective Asia Oceania zonal counterparts, United Arab Emirates and Iran, who opted not to participate.
In the women’s competition, the twelve teams will be split across two groups (Group A & Group B). The top four in each group will progress to the knock-out stages of quarter-finals, semi-finals, and medal games. In the men’s competition, the teams will be divided into four groups for the preliminary stage which will determine the rankings for the last 16 crossover games, leading into the quarters, semis, and then medal games.
The groups for the 2022 IWBF World Championships will be determined at the Official Draw which is set to take place on the 8 February 2023 at the Dubai Sports Council and will be available to watch on IWBF’s YouTube channel.
