Celebrating International Women's Day 2023 and Embracing Equity

Today, on #InternationalWomensDay we want to celebrate not only the growth of the women’s wheelchair basketball but also the increase in female representation throughout the sport!

Here are a few of the milestones made:

• 20% increase in the field for the 2023 Women’s U25 World Championship
• 50/50 gender split across the International Technical Officials and National Technical Officials at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games
• Hosting of Women’s Development Camps to enable and educate developing countries to invest in the women’s game.
• For the first time ever, the Women’s Gold Medal Game at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will be the finale and ultimate highlight of the wheelchair basketball competition.
• Identified and promoted female leaders (both players and administrators) within the sport’s structures.
