Following two years of disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, IWBF Europe’s EuroCup 2022 begins this weekend in a shortened format.
Club teams from across Europe will come together between Friday 22 April – Sunday 24 April to compete in EuroCup 1 and EuroCup 2, as well as the Qualification Tournament for EuroLeague 2023.
The normal EuroLeague format of preliminaries and finals was shortened due to the spread of the omicron variant of COVID-19 and a reduction in participating teams, and so this year the competition will see eight teams participate in EuroCup 1 in Hannover, Germany, whilst Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari will play host to five other teams in EuroCup 2. In Lille, France, five clubs will compete for the opportunity to qualify to play in next year’s EuroLeague.
The pinnacle of European club competition, the Champions Cup 2022, will be played on Friday 6 May – Sunday 8 May 2022 at the home of RSB Thuringia Bulls in Erfurt, Germany.
