Germany men’s head coach, Nicolai Zeltinger, has named 11 out of 12 athletes, who will represent their country this summer at the Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in Hamburg, Germany.
The twelfth and thus the last ticket for the final World Championship squad will award by the coaching team in mid-May at a training camp in the Nottwill, Switzerland.
For his World Championship squad, Zeltinger has relied on proven strength, with all eleven nominated players were part of the team that earnt bronze on the Spanish island of Tenerife at the European Championships last year.
The team consists of a good mix of young, up-and-coming talents such as Nico Dreimüller, Matthias Güntner, and Chris Huber as well as experienced leaders like Thomas Böhme, Alex Halouski, and captain Jan Haller.
The final 12th member squad will be decided by between the 14th - 20th May in training camp in Nottwill between youngster Oliver Jantz and veteran Andre Bienek.
German Head Coach, Nicolai Zeltinger, said “We had an excellent quality selection Camp. I'm excited about the respectful and hard way the athletes work together. This is the way we want to represent Germany during a home World Championship. We are sure that we have selected the right athletes.”
The squad now has to be finally confirmed by the DBS, the German Disabled Sports Association.
