The Lima 2019 Parapan American Games will take place between the 23 August - 1 September and will feature a record 1,850 athletes who will compete in 17 sports, two more than Toronto 2015, overtaking the latter as the biggest Parapan American Games ever.


The Games will act as the wheelchair basketball zonal qualification tournament for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games with three spots available for the men’s competition and only two places up for grabs in the women’s.


The wheelchair basketball competition begins today (Saturday 24th August) and runs for eight days until the Saturday 31st August.


Eight men’s teams – Peru, Canada, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, USA, Brazil, and Puerto Rico – will be split across two pools and will play a round robin in their group across four days to determine their placing and the crossovers for the quarter-finals, which are set to take place on Wednesday 28th August. The winners will progress to the semi-finals on Friday 30th August, with the bronze and gold medal games on Saturday 31st August.


Men's Team Rosters


The eight women’s teams – Peru, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, USA, Chile, and Brazil – will also be split across two pools and play in a round robin, however it will be the top two from each pool to qualify directly for the semi-finals, set to take place on Thursday 29th August. The bottom two in each pool go straight into the crossover games for placing on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th August, with the medal games taking place the following day, Friday 30th August.
