IWBF Americas is pleased to officially confirm that the 2025 IWBF Americas Cup will be hosted in Bogotá, Colombia, bringing together the top wheelchair basketball teams from across the region.
The women’s competition will take place from August 9–12, 2025, with teams arriving from August 7, while the men’s tournament will run from August 12–17, 2025, with arrivals beginning August 10.
The Colombian Wheelchair Basketball Federation, under the leadership of President Luis Alberto Ninco Sánchez, will serve as the official host and local organizing committee for the event.
The 2025 Americas Cup will serve as a key qualifier for the IWBF World Championships in September 2026 in Ottawa, Canada:
- Women’s division: The top two teams will secure direct qualification, while two additional teams will advance to the 2026 Repechage Tournament.
- Men’s division: The top three teams will qualify directly, with two more earning 2026 Repechage spots.
IWBF Americas looks forward to welcoming the region’s best teams to Bogotá for this important championship, marking the next step on the road to Ottawa 2026.
