It is with deep sadness that IWBF shares details of the memorial service for our Secretary General, esteemed colleague, and dear friend, Norbert Kucera, who passed away on 13 February 2025.

Norbert dedicated his life to the development and promotion of wheelchair basketball worldwide. His leadership, kindness, and unwavering commitment to the sport have left a lasting impact on the global wheelchair basketball community.

The memorial service will take place as follows:

Location: American Church in Bonn-Plittersdorf, Kennedyallee 150, 53175 Bonn, Germany

IWBF are humbled to extend their deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Norbert’s family, friends, and loved ones. We were his family, and he was ours. Norbert’s impact went far beyond his role; he was a guiding force, always striving to elevate the sport and support those around him. His legacy will live on through the generations of athletes, referees, and administrators who continue to benefit from his vision and leadership. For all that he has given to wheelchair basketball, IWBF will forever be grateful. While we mourn his passing, we also honour the incredible legacy he leaves behind.
