A new Executive Council for the IWBF Europe Zone was elected on Saturday 7th September at the European Zone Congress, which took place in Wałbrzych, Poland, during the 2019 Men’s European Championship.

The IWBF Europe Executive Council for the term 2019-2023 was elected at the Congress following two mornings of discussions at the IWBF Europe Forum, which covered topics and reports from all commissions including competition, classification, development, marketing, and technical.

Austria’s Walter Pfaller remains as President for the next four years, along with Italy’s Fernando Zappile as Vice President, and Avi Lehrman from Israel as Treasurer.

Also continuing in their positions are Turkey’s Münir Gökmen as Chair of the PR and Marketing Commission, and Slovenia’s Žarko Tomšič as a Member-at-Large.

Joining the board are new chairpersons for four out of the five commissions. Bartosz Molik from Poland will replace Regina Costa, who has stepped up to the IWBF World Executive Council, as Chair of the Classification Commission; Great Britain’s David Kingstone was elected as Chair of the Competition Commission; Netherland’s Edwin Wallaart will become the Technical Commission Chair, and Malik Abes, supported by Austria, will be in charge of the Development Commission.

Following the election of the new Executive Council, the Council decided to re-appoint Petr Tuček as Secretary General for the zone.

IWBF Europe’s President, Walter Pfaller, said:

“At this point, we want to thank all the former Board Members, Tonia Gomez Ruf, Maurice Hammerton, and Dirk Cossaer for their dedication and their never-ending work for our organisation, IWBF Europe, and our sport.

“IWBF Europe honours work of all former Board Members for everything they have brought and developed for our sport. Thank you!”
