Twenty-two International Technical Officials from eighteen countries will be part of history made after being selected to officiate at the inaugural IWBF 2020 3x3 Open World Championships being hosted at the IWAS World Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
Luc Vergoossen (NED) will lead the team of officials as the Technical Delegate for the competition, which will take place between the 23rd - 28th February. Vergoossen, who heads up IWBF’s 3x3 Competition Sub-Committee, brings a wealth of 3x3 experience from the running game to support the delivery of IWBF’s first ever international major 3x3 competition.
He will be supported by a Tournament Technical Committee of Don Perriman (AUS), Norbert Kucera (GER), and Cristian Roja (ITA), as well as Marloes Renskers (NED) who will be the Technical Event Manager for the competition
IWBF’s Chair of the Classification Commission, Regina Costa (POR), will supervise a panel of four other classifiers: Vaidas Stravinskas (LTU), Tan Trien Dinh (FRA), Hiroshi Tsunemi (JPN), and Jolanta Marszalek (POL) to handle the Championships’ classification.
Eight referees will be responsible for officiating the games: Pedro Vasquez (CHI), Fengqin Wang (CHN), Yoshiko Menda (JPN), Chih-Hsin Hsiao (TPE), Farshad Hashemi (IRI), Aleksei Dyev (RUS), Pandora Wesolowska (POL), and Natascha Onono (RSA). Acting as the referee supervisors for the tournament are Jorge Bestilleiro (ARG) and Edwin Wallaart (NED).
The Game Commissioners will be Kean Koo Ang (MAS) and Rui Marques (BRA).
IWBF’s Secretary General, Norbert Kucera, said:

“Establishing the 3x3 Open World Championships is a milestone for the sport and we believe it will kickstart the 3x3 game in wheelchair basketball, opening opportunities at both the elite competition level as well as development level to engage new participants and audiences to the sport.
