IWBF Europe have decided to award the 2019 Men’s European Championships Division A to Poland and the 2019 Women’s European Championships Division A to the Netherlands.
The Polish Basketball Federation presented the successful bid to host the men’s competition in Wałbrzych, Świebodzice between the 28th August - 9th September.
The successful bid to host in the 2019 Women’s European Championships Division A was presented by BEN (Basketball Experience Netherlands), and will be hosted in Rotterdam between the 28th June - 8th July.
Both competitions will act as the qualification tournament for the European Zone to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, with the top four in both the men and women’s competitions all progressing through to the Games.
IWBF Europe President, Walter Pfaller said, “I would like to congratulate the awarded event organizers on behalf of IWBF Europe. We do believe that with the separate organization by two nations it will create bigger awareness and popularity of wheelchair basketball in Europe.”
