As the Santiago 2023 Parapan Am Games women's wheelchair basketball competition reaches its pinnacle, the semi-final matchups have been determined, setting the stage for high-stake showdowns. With only one direct qualification spot available for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and one spot at the 2024 IWBF Women’s Repechage tournament, the journey to the podium has never been more thrilling.

Both the USA and Canada showcased unwavering dominance in the group stage, securing clean sweeps to finish atop of their respective groups. Their impressive performances set the tone for their campaigns and established them as formidable contenders in the quest for gold.

After topping the group, Canada's Tara Lanes, said:

“It feels really good to get a sweep in our pool. I felt like we were playing as a team, we’re moving the ball – the rookies got in there, got in some good minutes. Just trying to prepare for what’s ahead and focus on that."

Semi-final - USA vs. Brazil:

The undefeated USA team, brimming with confidence after their flawless group stage, is set to face Brazil in a semi-final clash. Brazil, finishing second in Group A after a tough encounter with Canada (61-44), is determined to overcome the challenge posed by the reigning champions.

Looking ahead to the semi-final, USA's Courtney Ryan, said:

"I think it's just all about the positive energy and keeping the momentum right. We still have things to grow on, and we know that. So, we've got to make sure that we're completely focused in practices and ready to go as soon as we hit the court and step within those four lines when we go up against our opponents."

In the other semi-final, Canada, equally untroubled in the group stage, will meet Argentina. Despite a strong start with victories over Chile and Peru, Argentina faced a setback against the USA in a big loss (87-26). They now aim to rebound against Canada for a chance to secure a Paris 2024 qualification.

The anticipation is palpable as fans await the thrilling clashes that will unfold on the courts of Santiago. Stay tuned for the action in the semi-finals of the women's wheelchair basketball competition at the Santiago 2023 Parapan Am Games.
