The 2022 World Championships was the first step in shaping the qualification for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games with the final standings shaping the allocation of Zonal spots and Repechage places.
The top four placed teams in both the men’s and women’s competitions earnt their respective zone spots at Paris 2024, which will be won at their respective upcoming Zonal Championships.
Zonal Spots for Paris 2024 Paralympic Games to be earnt at Zonal Championships:
- Europe – 2 places
- Americas – 1 place
- Asia Oceania – 1 place
Therefore, the teams who finish in the top two at the European Championships this August in Rotterdam will secure a place at the Paralympic Games, alongside the winner of the Santiago 2023 Parapan Am Games and the winner of the Asia Oceania Championships.
Repechage Spots
The distribution of places for the repechage tournaments were determined by several factors including the final standings (below the top four placed teams) at the 2022 World Championships. The Zonal Championships will also decide the countries who will participate in the repechage tournaments.
