The quarter-final line-up of the men’s competition at the 2022 IWBF Asia Oceania Championships taking place in Phuket, Thailand has been decided.

After five days of exhilarating wheelchair basketball, the preliminary stage concluded with three teams tied for the top spot in Pool A (Division 1) - Iran, Australia and Korea all finishing with 9 points each (4 wins and 1 loss). In the games between those three teams, it was Iran that had the best points difference to finish in first place, Australia second, and Korea third. Thailand secured fourth spot thanks to their win over Malaysia, with Malaysia in fifth spot.

Due to the withdrawal of the Japanese men’s team, the top three teams from Pool B (Division 2) - Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines progressed to the quarter-finals to make up the eight teams.

Iraq finished undefeated in Pool B and topped the Pool, with second and third place in Pool B going right down to the wire. Saudi Arabia held off an Afghanistan fightback to claim second, and the Philippines outlasted United Arab Emirates to finish third in Pool B to secure their places in the quarter-finals. As a result, Iraq will face South Korea, Saudi Arabia will meet Australia, and the Philippines will play Iran. Thailand and Malaysia will face each other again in the fourth quarter-final.

Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates will play in a 9-10 Play-Off game to determine the final positions in Game 27 on Thursday 26 May at 12:30
