On Saturday 8 May starting at 11:00am (CET), at the headquarters of the Italian Wheelchair Basketball Federation (FIPIC) in Rome, the draw to establish the composition of the two groups for the U23 European Championship will take place.


The Championship, which is scheduled from the 13 – 18 June in Lignano Sabbiadoro, has seven teams that registered to compete: Turkey, Germany, Spain, France, Israel, Poland, and Italy. According to the criteria established for the draw, the two finalists of the last edition, Turkey and Germany, will be seeded, while the host country, Italy, will have the right to choose which group to play in.


The first two of each group will advance to the semi-finals, while the excluded teams will play a mini group of three to establish the placement order, crucial to assigning the fifth and final qualifying slot to the next Men's U23 World Championship in Chiba City, Japan (scheduled for spring 2022).


The draw will be streamed live on the page www.facebook.com/fipic .


The Italian National Teams Technical Director, Carlo Di Giusto, is also expected to be present, and will be responsible for choosing the group where the Italian national team will play.
